Insights from the Physician Social Network Doximity

Doximity, the US physician network linking medical minds, was launched last year. Articles published on the website cover issues such as med technetworking and demography.

As far as demography is concerned, the article Hail to the Chief: a Demographic Look at Physician Leaders reveals some interesting facts. While women represent only 28 % of US physicians (as per 2006), according to the Association of American Medical Colleges the trend is reversing b/se around half of 2010 MD graduates are women. The number of physicians of non-white, foreign or unknown ethnicity is also on the rise (around 45 % in 2006) but when leadership positions alone are considered, diversity is less pronounced.
